eSport (electronic sport) is the collection of computer and console games, what are capable of competitive gaming. These skill demanding strategy, first person shooter, sport games are played also on amateur and professional levels. The eSport in its classical mean represents a separate sport, which requires tactical knowledge, reaction, manual skill and exceptional teamwork.
 
LAN PARTY
When the internet was not so common to access, the players had the need to play against each other “live”, match their skill at the same place. These small, self organized events were held in classrooms, garages. The people who were playing together later formed teams, organized their own competitions, matching with other teams (clans). These small LAN Parties gave the bases of the events held nowadays where hundreds, thousands of players attending.
 
ESPORT IN HUNGARY
Like the international, the Hungarian eSport has grown to a smaller industry also. Nowadays we can find several computer gaming related companies, gaming software shops, game server hosting companies, LAN clubs, on-line and LAN Party event organizing firms. Professional competitions are organized for 8 years. From 2000, when the first world cup qualification (WCG) was held, the events grow in number of attendees and awards. Among the Hungarian professional LAN parties, the Budapest eSport CUP (BECUP) managed to take the lead.
